Outdoor Club Championships 2005.

On Sunday 14th August the Bowmen of Rutland held their Outdoor Club Championships at their Greetham ground. Over thirty members took part with most shooting an American round, two and a half dozen arrows at 60 yards, 50 yards and 40 yards, the Juniors and those members not able to reach 60 yards shot various Rutland Specials.

Richard Custance was the Field Captain for the shoot, the Lord Patron for the day was Robert Hinch, of Greetham Valley Golf Club. After the shoot members enjoyed the buffet tea and the raffle was drawn.

The Ladies Recurve winner was Susan Custance with a score of 662, in second place was Kaye Mundy with 629 and in third place with 607 scored was Fiona Parker. In the Ladies Compound first place went to Wendy Skinner with 768, Jean Asher was second with 663 and in third place was Jill Gornall with 627 scored. In the Ladies Longbow the winner was Chrissie Mortlock with a score of 228.

The Gents Recurve was very close, the winner by just three points was Graham Jones with 724, in second place was Steve Cooley with 721 and in third place with 663 was Peter Wilkinson. Chris Mortlock shot Barebow scoring 278. In the Gents Compound first place went to Brian Skinner with 762, Alan Davies was second with 742 and in third place was Gordon Parker with a score of 721. In the Gents Longbow Steve Brown won with a score of 159.

The Junior Gents Recurve winner was James Mortlock shooting an American, scoring 648. The Junior Gents Compound winner was Alastair Pinder also shooting an American with 554. The Junior Gents Longbow winner shooting a Rutland Special at 50, 40 and 30 yards was Gary McDonald with 227. The Junior Lady Recurve Champion was Alexandria Davies shooting a Rutland Special at 40, 30 and 20 yards scoring 550. The Junior Lady Compound winner was Kirsty Davies shooting 50, 40 and 30 yards scoring 741.

The Junior Ladies Rutland Special Trophy went to Bethan Pinder with a score of 421 shooting a Rutland Special at 30, 20 and 10 yards. The Gents Rutland Special went to Richard Asher shooting a Rutland Special at 40, 30 and 20 yards scoring 278.

The Ron Jennings trophies are presented to the Lady and Gent with the greatest difference between their score at the longest distance and the middle distance, the Ladies winner was Julie Gregg and the Gents winner was Richard Asher. The Handicap trophy awarded to the archer with the highest handicap adjusted score went to Andy Powell with an adjusted score of 1560. The Wooden Spoon went to Gary MacDonald for the highest number of whites. The Best Gold prize for the arrow nearest to the centre of the gold at the longest distance went to Gordon Parker, the Worst White went to Gary Macdonald for the arrow nearest to the outer edge of the white but still scoring at the shortest distance and the Hidden Score prize went to Jenny Parker.

The pairs trophies awarded to the highest scoring pair of archers went to Michael O’Sullivan and Steve Cooley with a combined score of 1349. The Beginners trophy went to Andy Powell.

Others who took part were, Alex Asher, Lynn Cooley, Anne Davies, Michael Daymond, Michael Lark, Phil Pinder and Paul Wallace.
