Rutland v Birstall Match 2005May
Day Bank Holiday Monday saw the now traditional Match against Birstall with many
thanks to Chris, Chrissie, Dick and Kaye (and others) who kindly set out the
field ready for our Challenge. The
Day started off well with some sun although there was a little wind.
With the field set up and the tables set up ready for tea we awaited our
visitors. 18
Birstall members arrived and the tents went up in quick succession (they were
needed). We had 10 Rutlanders ready
on the shooting line. Dick
kindly offered to be field Captain for the competition and the sport commenced.
As the afternoon progressed we had several heavy showers but this did not
deter any of us and a good afternoon shoot was had by all. My
thanks to Steve Copson who along with myself helped with sorting out the
results. Yet again the Senior Trophy
went to Birstall but I am pleased to say our junior team managed to win so at
last we have a Trophy back in Rutland. Congratulations
to Gary, Kristy and Alex who will all hold the trophy for 4 months each.
Kirsty also won the Rutland Salver for the highest scoring Rutlander. Many
thanks to all who attended and worked hard making the day one to remember,
special thanks to Steve and Lynn Cooley for manning the Tea tent, thanks to all
members for providing such a lovely tea which was well appreciated by all. Team
consisted of Steve Brown, Graham Jones, Tony Mayhew (well done for your first
competition shoot) Anne Davies, Kaye Mundy, Chrissie Mortlock, Gary McDonald,
Kirsty and Alex Davies and I. Perhaps
next year we can arrange the shoot so that it does not clash with any other
competition so that we could have a few more Rutlanders. Report by Jill Gornall. Click
