Success at the Sydney Bond Tournament.

L&RCAA Juniors make it 4 in row !

On Sunday July 24th at a VERY soggy windswept Great Glen the Junior County team took part in the annual inter-county junior competition. Sadly the weather was so bad that the competition was abandoned after the lunch break at the request of all the team captains. So the results were decided on the first 6 dozen but that did not matter to our team. The team consisted of three Rutland Juniors Alexandria Davies in her first County competition,  Kirsty Davies and James Mortlock plus Fiona Heaver, Lauren McPherson (formally of the Bowmen of Rutland), Rebecca Lantsbery, Matthew Heaver, Tom Green, Georgia Ward, James Ward and Robert Spouge, they all took control from the start of the competition and stayed ahead throughout.

The Leicestershire & Rutland Junior Archery Team secured a four in a row victory over their East Midlands rivals. Beating off teams from Derbyshire, Lincolnshire, Nottinghamshire and Northamptonshire to win both the Sydney Bond Trophy for recurve archers and the Bingham Ceramic Trophy for compound archers. Not happy with just the team trophies the L&RCAA juniors went on to take three of the four individual medals James won the Boys Recurve, Kirsty won the Girls Compound and Fiona Heaver won the Girls Recurve. Team Captain Jenny Charlesworth said “Once again our youngsters proved to be too strong for the opposition. Here in Leicestershire and Rutland we have one of the finest Junior County Archery Teams in the United Kingdom. Look out for some of these names in London in 2012.”
